CHASKA hawks 69, EAGAN wildcats 59
Chaska welcomed back Courtney Boylan as they rallied from a five point half time deficit in a 69-59 win. It was Boylan's first game since a groin pull. Chaska was 1-2 during her absence. This was a pay back win as Chaska lost to Eagan 61-52 back in December. The Hawks had four players in double digits led by Brooke Brown with 13. Chaska heads into a big confrontation with Eden Prairie on Thursday with a 16-6 record. Eagan is 7-13.
The game opened with six straight empty possessions. Adrea Holler put Eagan out in front with a pair of free throws. Chaska answered on the very next possession with an inside bucket by Brittany Travis. Eagan, once they scored, was 5/7 in that sequence as they built a 9-5 lead. Boylan didn't start and entered the game at the 21:10 mark of the first half. The impact was not immediate as Chaska fell behind further 15-9. The Hawks closed to 15-14 after a Boylan drive and a three by Taylor Brown. Eagan pushed their lead back to 20-16. A three by Kelsey Kalkman and then three free throws by Boylan gave Chaska their first lead at 22-20. The very next Eagan possession was an old fashioned three by Meredyth Fredericksen. That kicked off an 8-0 run as Eagan ran their lead to 30-22. Chaska had a six possession drought at that point without Boylan in the line up. Chaska did close the gap 32-27 at half. Fredericksen had 8 for Eagan and Travis had 7 at half for Chaska.
Boylan started the half as Chaska rearranged their entire line up. What ever it was it worked. Chaska scored on 9/10 possessions starting on the fourth chance in the second half
. They turned that five point deficit to a 48-43 lead with 9:40 left. Boylan got it started with two baskets. So in less that 9 minutes Chaska scored 21 points in 13 possessions, an eye popping 161.5 pp100 mark. Six different Hawks had a hand in the scoring. Eagan countered with a 6-0 run to retake the lead 49-48 with seven minutes left. Taylor Brown scored on a driving lay up to put Chaska up for good. That started another hot run with a 6/7 sequence. Chaska led at that point 60-53 with 3:30 left. From that point on it was going to be a free throw parade for Chaska, but they caught the missed free throw bug that has been going around since last Friday's Rogers/Becker game. In the last three minutes they missed 9 free points. They also made 9. Eagan's offense stalled with a four possession drought, three of which ended in turnovers. Brooke Brown scored the final four points as Chaska got their retribution.

Second chancers went to Eagan 20-13. 33.9% of the Wildcats points are due to second chancers. Only 18.8% of Chaska's points came via another chance.
It is interesting to note that Eagan didn't have a turnover until 3 minutes left in the first half. So Eagan was getting shots every possession. It also differentiates the defensive intensity from last night (PCG/Hopkins) to this game. Offenses were able to do what they wanted.
