OLD MAN WEATHER
My intention today was to see two games. I got one done (thank goodness). Duluth East was able to get to Osseo for a 1 pm start. After that Coach Teas & I headed to southeast MN to see Hayfield at Kingsland (which happens to be about 30-40 minutes south of Rochester in Spring Valley). We stopped and had dinner at Applebee's in Rochester. The road wasn't that bad except for the stretch around Cannon Falls. For those that don't know what the weather in Minnesota is like today it started off with temps at 24. Now it is -6. There was some light snow before the big deep freeze. What you have in the open country is a ground blizzard. The road to Spring Valley south of Rochester had old man winter's icy fingers coming across the road trying to pull us into the ditch, but we declined. We made it down to Kingsland at 6 pm for a 7:30 game. There was supposed to be a double header, but there were no cars in the lot. We stopped at Subway and they had cancelled/postponed the game. So we took off back to the Twin Cities. Google maps estimates the time at about 2:20. We easily made that despite Old Man Winter's attempts to slow us down. We did have to slow down a couple of times due to white outs.
This wasn't the only postponement/cancellation. Moorhead wasn't able to get to Rogers as they closed 94 from Moorhead to Fergus Falls. I heard Crookston cancelled at 8:30 this morning. This was the second attempt to get the games in that were originally set for Dec. 1. It is plain nasty out there with wind chills -20 to -40. Enough about the weather now on to the Osseo vs Duluth East Game
