Iowa Loses in Big 10, Wins High Five

BIG 10
Indiana beat Illinois 70-62. Jamie Braun (Marshfield, WI) had 19 for Indiana. Jenna Smith (Bloomington Kennedy) had 20 for Illinois.

Michigan beat Northwestern 54-42. Krista Clement (St. Ignace, MI) and Ta'Shia Walker (Lansing Sexton) had 6 for Michigan. Melissa Miller (Breck) did not score for Northwestern. According to the Michigan Daily the first half was "uglier than Don Imus."

Ohio State beat Iowa 73-65. Tamarah Riley (Detroit DePorres) had 11 for OSU. Wendy Ausdemore (TriCenter, IA) had 10 for the Hawkeyes. Kachine Alexander (Benilde-St. Margaret's) had 9 and Krista VandeVenter (Osseo) did not score for Iowa. The Des Moines Register looks at the poor first half that hurt the Hawkeyes chances.

Connecticut doubled Purdue 100-50. Lakisha Freeman (Saginaw Arthur Hill) had 10 for Purdue.

Today Wisconsin hosts Minnesota. The StarTribune has a story about Alyssa Karel (Cretin-Derham Hall) and her adjustment to the Big 10 life with Wisconsin. The Wisconsin State Journal also has a Karel story. Their headline says Karel is Ready for the Gophers.

MISSOURI VALLEY
Creighton beat Missouri State 79-73 OT. Ally Thrall (Dowling Catholic) had 23 for Creighton. Michelle Kaus (Eastview) had 5 and Tyrai Bronson (Mpls North) did not score for Creighton. Maggie Dwyer (Grand Haven, MI) had 14 for Missouri State.

Drake beat Wichita State 83-46. Jill Martin (Norwalk, IA) had 18 for Drake. Lauren Dybing (St. Croix Lutheran) had 14 and Katie DeWitt (Centennial) had 1 for Drake. Daria Frazier (Mpls North) had 12 for Wichita State. The Des Moines Register looks at the 2-0 start for Drake.

EAST
Siena beat Canisius 78-65. Brittane Russell (Southfield-Lathrup, MI) had 17 for Canisius.

MD Eastern Shore beat Kent State 76-71 OT. Ashley Harkins (Saginaw Arthur Hill) had 12 for Kent State.

SOUTH
Middle Tennessee beat Denver 93-55. Ashly Robinson (Bloomington Kennedy) had 4 points for Denver.

WEST
UTEP beat Rice 77-54. Jareica Hughes (Southfield-Lathrup, MI) had 9 for UTEP.

HIGH FIVE
Iowa swept the team and the Individual High Five. The Team title was tight.
