No that is not a volleyball score. In the CSPSL teams play three games and to win the night you need to win at least twice. Games are 14 minute running time with fouls counting for points without shooting free throws (until the last two minutes).Kennedy rolled in the first game as they raced to a 13-0 lead. MA started off the game in an eleven possession drought. There really was no drama or mystery who was going to take game one. JFK did hit for three 3s on the game one.
Things changed toward the end of game one. MA started to get their groove with a 3/5 offensive sequence. Even so JFK led early 5-2. MA took the lead with a 4/5 offensive sequence midway through the second game. Megan Erlandson scored on a cut to make it 10-9 MA at that point. Shakila Boler was fouled (non shooting automatic one point), but that ended JFK's scoring. MA did not allow a field goal in Kennedy's last six possessions. With the score tied at 10 MA won it after Erlandson was fouled on a drive. On the same possession Brittney Hanson went to the line, but missed both tosses. Erlandson grabbed the miss and then Ani Johnson was fouled. She didn't miss and MA led 13-10. Kennedy had one more crack to tie, but the shot was off. That forced game three.MA led early in game three 4-0. Kennedy tied it with a Boler 3. MA pushed the lead back out to 7-4 with a basket by Sarah Petersen. MA led 10-8. Ameshia Kearney hit a three on the right side to give Kennedy an 11-10 lead. MA turned the ball over on the press on their next possession. Just like the end of the second game, Kennedy was fouled but missed the free throw. Kennedy kept getting the offensive rebounds however. They had four chances at 1-1 in that possession. Finally Brittany Zins ended the frustration and sealed the win with two free throws. Zins had a second chance after one MA player entered the lane early. Boler added two more free throws in the next possession and Kennedy moved to the finals.
